With a music career spanning over two decades, the Kenyan “First Lady” Nazizi is a living legend. Doubling up as a hip hop and reggae artist, she has inspired a whole generation of femcees. Nazizi, popularly known as the First Lady, is one of East Africa’s legendary femcees. With countless hits such as “Kenyan Girl, Kenyan Boy”, “Bless Ma Room” and “Naleta Action”, she has more than 17 musicc awards to her name. She will be making her debut on Coke Studio Africa as one the Kenyan acts and will be joining top African acts such as Lioness (Namibia), Boity (South Africa) among others in a fiery performance.


Nazizi came into the limelight when she dropped her smash hit single “Nataka kuwa Rapper”. Together with Wyre and Bamzigi, they formed the award-winning group Necessary Noize in 2000 credited for dropping mega hits such as “Bless Ma Room” and “Tension”. Steadily, they took over East Africa after the formation of East Africa Bashment Crew with Ugandan superstar Bebe Cool. She has since released solo hit singles among them, “Love Automatic” and “254”. She is a seven- time Chat Female Artist of The Year, Best Directed Video and Video of the Year at the Channel O Video Music Awards (2007). Best Group, Best Ragga Group & Best Music Video at the Kisima Music Awards (2004) and Best Group at the Pearl of Africa Music Awards (2006). As part of Necessary Noize, she has received nominations for Best East African Album at the Tanzania Music Awards (2005), Best Reggae Video at the Channel O Music Video Awards (2006) and Best Kenyan Group at the Pearl of Africa Music Awards (2007).


A true performer, Nazizi has curtain raised for Sean Paul and Wayne Wonder in Kenya, Akon in Tanzania and Uganda, Marlon Asher in Uganda and most recently Julian Marley and Andrew Tosh in Ethiopia. She has toured 6 American states and 5 European countries in the last two years. In 2005, she represented Kenya in the Africa unite tour in Ethiopia with the Marley's and is featured on the on the DVD which was released February, 2008. She is also featured on the Hip Hop Colony DVD which focuses on the birth of hip hop in Kenya.


Nazizi Hirji was born in Kenya in 1981. She won a talent contest Da Show in the 90s which brought her to the spotlight. Apart from music, she is also an actress who cast the role of Sandra on the series in 2015. Nazizi has also hosted the H2O TV music show with DJ John on KTN TV and natural mystic a reggae show on Nation F .
